Tom Jackson

Congress Times editor, Content sub editor

About Tom

Tom joined VBD in 2015 after almost a decade with regional newspaper publisher Archant.

Having received a bursary from Archant to study a National Council for the Training of Journalists-accredited course at Harlow College, Tom rose through the ranks on his home-town newspaper – the Cambs Times – from trainee reporter to news and content editor. He won multiple regional awards and company accolades in this time, including being named “Newcomer of the Year” at the 2007 East of England Media Awards.

Always keen to embrace new content channels, Tom also played the role of “web champion” for the title to grow its online presence and multimedia output, and build user interaction – with Archant singling out numerous innovations for recognition.

Role at VBD

Tom is part of the sub-editing team responsible for the design and layout of its print titles – the perfect role to allow him to exercise his creative flair for engaging print design. He also plays an active role in the publication of website content, VBD’s podcasts, and video and photography output from events and congresses he attends.

Since 2018, Tom has also edited Congress Times, a series of publications produced in partnership with many of the UK’s leading veterinary associations – including the BSAVA, BEVA, BVNA and BCVA, and the organiser of London Vet Show – to promote events and activities at their congresses.
