Article Guidelines

We are always pleased to receive interesting, high-quality general articles for our publications.

Articles for each publication should appeal to as many readers as possible and be written in a generic style: this means that articles must be written around a specific topic or theme and not around a particular product. They should be written by a veterinary professional (either practising, or from industry, academia, governing bodies or associations).

Any commercial references must be kept to an absolute minimum - and only then if their inclusion is vital to the piece. Where specific drugs are named in editorial, the commercial name may be used upon the first mention, with the active ingredient/generic name following in brackets. Thereafter the drug shall be named by the generic name only.

These conditions are vital in helping us to maintain the continuing high-standard of trusted editorial in our publication and we retain the right to change editorial as we see fit.

Subject matter

For Veterinary Times and VN Times, we particularly welcome clinical, practical and technical articles as well as pieces on behaviour, research and nutrition. We also welcome articles about people and their work in the veterinary field or pieces offering a point-of-view on any aspect of the profession.

For The Veterinary Business Journal, articles providing information and advice to practice managers and owners are welcomed. These may be from a veterinary professional or expert in a field relevant to business management.

Extent

Articles submitted for Veterinary Times should be between 1,800 and 2,000 words long: those for VN Times and The Veterinary Business Journal between 1,200 and 1,800 words long.

In all cases we welcome relevant accompanying photographs, illustrations, charts, diagrams or tables.
